Key Analytics

You need to be able to answer the following questions:

  • Is the herd trimming enough to meet the stated trim schedule?
  • Does the timing of the trim events match the stated schedule?
  • What are the most common lesion types?
  • How does lesion frequency vary by:
    • Parity – be careful with counts that do not factor in % cows at each parity group.
    • DIM – be careful regarding the timing of routine trimming.
    • Month of the year – watch for late summer/early fall increases in claw lesions which might suggest heat stress problems.
