- On average, cows are milked 2.8 times per day with 62-65 cows per robot
- Increased milk production by ~10 lbs (4.5 kg) due to improved cow comfort from old freestall barn and increased milking frequency. Herd average ~80 lbs (36.3 kg) of milk per cow per day over the past year; Holsteins average ~90 lbs (40.8 kg).
- Guernseys and smaller Holsteins penned in a separate group from large mature Holsteins
- Sand bedded freestalls, 48-inch (122 cm) wide on-center
- Lely Juno push feeder cycles through the barn every two hours between 12:00 pm and 6:00 am
- 12-foot (3.7 m) footbath located at the exit of the robot in the central crossover alley is fitted with one-directional gates to prevent cows from entering backwards into the robot area
- Cows are fetched twice daily from the post-fresh pen for milking. Duration of stay in the post-fresh pen is determined by cow health and performance, from one to three weeks or longer, if needed.
- Bedded pack area for pre-fresh cows and calving
- Veterinary work room located near the calving and post-fresh pen
- Naturally-ventilated barn oriented east-west and situated for future expansion to the south with an additional “half” of the barn
