Replacement Housing Barn A

  • Post-weaning and grower group calf barn for a 300-cow dairy
  • Houses calves up until about 6 months old
  • Easy movement of calves to post-weaning group pen from the nursery
  • 12′ (30.5 cm) curtain sidewall for warm weather natural ventilation
  • Supplemental positive pressure ventilation 

Replacement Housing Barn B

  • Growing heifer barn for calves post-weaning through 10 months of age for a 75-cow dairy
  • Naturally ventilated, east-west oriented barn with a supplemental postive pressure tube system for minimum winter ventilation
  • Gravel base under bedded pack area to allow for better drainage and less straw usage
  • The waterers are bumped into the bedded pack with a surrounding wall so that the calves have access to the waterers only from the feed alley while making a clear path for scraping the feed alley

Replacement Housing Barn C

  • 2 post-weaning bedded packs for heifers under 6 months of age
  • Sand bedded freestalls – 5 age groups, appropriate sizes
  • Drive by feeding bunk
  • Two stall alleys per group

Replacement Housing Barn D

  • New, naturally ventilated freestall barn to house breeding age and bred heifers for a 100-cow dairy
  • 3-row, south-facing pen with sand-bedded freestalls 44 inches wide (120 cm), on center for heifers 800-1200 lbs (360-545 kg)
  • Feed bunk extensions outside of barn provide access for all heifers to feed simultaneously
  • Eventual headlocks along the entire length of the bunk will allow for lock-up of all heifers for ease of management and vet checks
